DAY OUT IN CORNWALL: PARADISE PARK

Saturday 18 April 2015

I grew up around the corner from Paradise Park, a wildlife sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall. All through summer & the holidays I could always hear the tannoy's from my bedroom announcing that the 'penguin feeding was about to start.'

It felt so strange walking in there today with Evie. It's the first time I've taken her & I was so excited to watch her play around somewhere that I used to LOVE.
Paradise Park is great fun in summer. They have a HUGE outdoor park, a bird flying show, a little train ride, thousands of beautiful birds to look at, penguins that you can help to feed, otters, pandas, a little farm, a tropical bird cage where you can go in & feed the birds that are flying around & much much more.
It was such a shame that it was SO COLD. Where has the sunshine gone? Most of the park is set outside so we couldn't look around for long & didn't get a chance to look at or feed the birds this time. We were all shivering like mad. We were dressed for summer so had to fashion Evie a hat out of a muslin square to warm her up. We ended up quickly feeding some animals in the farm before heading to the Jungle Barn, a big indoor soft play area.
Evie loved watching me feed the animals. She's never seen sheep or goats before upclose. She's used to (& very good with) cats & dogs. But she was absolutely mesmerised & slightly cautious of these new animals. She curiously watched me feed them but didn't want to go near them herself.
We missed out on so much because of the weather. We were a bit disappointed but it's a great excuse to go back. We were very grateful that Paradise Park has 'The Jungle Barn'. We soon warmed up with a delicious pasty & a hot chocolate. Evie hasn't really experienced soft play before & she's new to slides. She absolutely LOVED IT! She wanted to go up again & again & even went on the slides for bigger children.

It was so nice to find a big area that we could just let her run free in because it's completely baby proof. She enjoyed running around & finding her own way back to the slide & playing on all of the soft toys.
They have a really big ball pool for the babies with a wind machine that blows the balls around if you put them near it. Evie LOVED trying to catch them & letting the wind machine blow in her face.
We had such a lovely afternoon & Evie's grandma loved watching Evie explore all of these new things as much as I did.

We made sure we bought a return ticket (which is really cheap because you've already paid full entry) so that we can come back on a sunnier day & really make the most of the park. Paradise Park is a must see if you're ever visiting or you live in Cornwall. There is so much to do for all ages & it's more than worth the entry price.

    1. They have loads now. We didn't even do a 1/4 of what they have on offer because of the weather. They have otter feeding/penguin feeding/bird feeding/farm animal feeding. They have birds shows, a train ride, huge outdoor play parks, a quest, the jungle barn soft play area (the list could go on) Such a great day out & definitely worth it for the whole family. We're going back as soon as it's sunny, armed with a picnic! :-D x

    1. It is so much fun. If you're ever in Cornwall I'd fully recommend it. They have so much to do there but because it was so cold we didn't get to do it all this time which was a shame. x
